The Children’s Home Society of Virginia is offering a free orientation on Dec. 16 for people interested in learning more about adopting children from foster care. The event will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Richmond office of Children’s Home Society, 4200 Fitzhugh Ave.
Participants will learn about the steps to adopt and can review photos of children awaiting a permanent home. For details, call (804) 353-0191 or visit http://www.chsva.org/.
There are nearly 1,600 children waiting to be adopted in Virginia. Most are living with foster families and attend public schools. All have risky futures without a permanent family.

Founded in 1900, Children’s Home Society of Virginia is a non-profit, licensed adoption agency that has placed more than 12,500 children in new homes. The agency’s mission is to find permanent, loving homes for all children and to provide counseling to birth and adoptive families.
